Tips to Prepare for an Exam

It’s important for all students to prepare for each exam as the grades achieved could determine their academic path. For this reason, The Tutoring Center, Greer has the following tips to share to help students prepare for and sit exams.

Start With a Plan

As soon as you become aware of an upcoming exam, mark the details in your calendar. Then, working backward from the exam date, schedule a sufficient amount of study sessions to help you prepare for the exam. This technique ensures that you won’t forget an exam and will ensure that you have time available to prepare.

Learning Tools

Depending on the subject, you may be required to take certain items to the exam, such as a scientific calculator or a drawing tool. One week prior to the exam, double-check that you have all of the items on the list and that they are all in working order. As an example, you don’t want your calculator to run out of battery power during your exam.

Earn Points

If you are not confident that you will complete the exam entirely, review the exam and identify any pages or sections which you can complete quickly and correctly. Then, move on to the remainder of the exam. This method can help students who took the time to study and prepare to earn points for answers to questions they studied for however would not have been able to complete due to time limitations.

Before you hand in either an exam or an assignment, you should review it. After all, it takes nothing more than the flick of a tired wrist to cause a number to be written incorrectly, causing an incorrect answer and a lower grade. Before the time is up, be sure that you review what you have written, ensuring that your answers are both clearly written and correct.
